Thande began her professional career in the formal sector employment where she worked for ten years before moving into full -time private agricultural production. She had a vision of making it in the farming industry. She identified several strategies to overcome the production and marketing hurdles affecting her and the community at large. These included reasonable volumes of our produce and limited access to credit facilities, for the majority of small-scale farmers.
In the quest for market information, she joined the Fresh Produce Exporters Association of Kenya (FPEAK) and rose from the position of an ordinary member to a Board Director. She realized that having the right networks helps in this business as a result she became a member of certain associations. She has won the 2013 TIAW Entrepreneur of the Year Award and 2014 Enterprising Women of the Year Winner AWARD.
